For what it’s worth, Vampires Suck corrects a lot of the most egregious faults in some of Seltzer and Friedberg’s other recent works. In a way, it’s like watching a paralyzed man take his first step – in overall terms, that’s some pretty danged unimpressive walking, but it’s an enormous achievement for the paralytic. People undergoing rehab of whatever sort need as much encouragement as they can get, and so do these two filmmakers. So in the public interest of aiding them in their recuperation following the “TMZ”-“MADtv” celebutante binge of Disaster Movie, I’ll do as Thumper advised in Bambi. In other words, lacking anything specifically positive to say, and not wanting to disturb S&F’s recovery, I shall say nothing more at all.
