Tom plunks down $35 mil for new house

Tom Cruise has bought a seven-bedroom Beverly Hills estate for an estimated $35 million. According to insiders, the 70-year-old home was not actually up for sale when the War of the Worlds star made his offer. The new pad will replace the Beverly Hills home Cruise has been renting for the past four years, and will house wife Katie Holmes, children Suri, Connor, and Isabella, as well as his sister and her family and his mom.

Posh and Becks find LA home

Victoria and David Beckham have finally found a "house" in LA. The multimillion dollar home is "modern, airy, very light and spacious with lots of windows," says a source. "It still needs a bit of work inside." The deal is nearly finalized, but the source says Victoria Beckham is due to land in LA today to sign off on the contract. "She will meet with interior designers, discuss fixtures and all aspects of the house plan before flying out shortly afterwards." Another insider confirms the news, saying, "It is done. They've found the perfect property for themselves in Beverly Hills... The house they've chosen is big but not huge. That said, it is big enough for them as a family of five, along with additional space for family members that will visit from Britain. They needed a fair amount of extra room for visitors as [guests] will stay awhile longer than [they did during] visits to them in Spain."

Avril and Deryck buy $10 million home

Canadian music supercouple Avril Lavigne and Deryck Whibley have plunked down $9.5 million for Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler's former Bel-Air home. The eight bedroom home was the set for MTV's Meet the Barker reality show, and boasts ten and a half bathrooms, an elevator, a steam shower, sauna, pool, spa and ten-car garage. Lavigne is selling her Beverly Hills home for $6.2 million.

Price slashed on Spederline house

Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have slashed the price of their Malibu estate. The seven-bedroom mansion was put on the market in January for $13.5 million, but was dropped to $11.9 million late last week. Spears bought the Serra Retreat property for $6.9 million in 2004.
