Angelina Jolie recently spoke publicly about the recent death of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand. "I'm one of those people who walk around as if it's fine, and then suddenly I don't know why I'm crying over my breakfast," said the A Mighty Heart actress. "My mother was my best friend. I'm so grateful I had her as a mom. She had cancer for seven years, but she lived long enough to see my brother and I grow up and be quite happy. You almost get the feeling she held on until it was okay." Jolie and partner Brad Pitt were at Bertrand's bedside when she died in LA in January.

Angelina opens up about Pax
Angelina Jolie recently spoke to Reader's Digest about her new adopted son Pax, being a mom, and partner Brad Pitt.On hooking up with Brad: "I met this amazing person, and we realized we had very similar views on how we wanted to live our lives. It's happened so quickly, with so many children. Yesterday, picking up the kids from school, Brad turned around in the car, and there were three of them. He couldn't stop laughing. We love them and are having a great time."
On planning for Shiloh: "Before I met Brad, I always said I was happy never to have a child biologically. He told me he hadn't given up on that thought. Then, a few months after Z came home, I saw Brad with her and Mad, and I realized how much he loved them, and a biological child would not in any way be a threat. So I said, 'I want to try.'"
On how Pax is adjusting to his new life: "The first two days he cried a lot. I hired a translator, and he would explain what was going on. The first night, I slept alone with him. I was expecting him to wake up and scream, but he woke and just stared at me. I handed him a stuffed animal, and we walked around the room pointing at things. By day three, he didn't want me to put him down. I think he got used to the reality that somebody loves you and that's what a mommy is... I think Pax, after seeing how much Zahara and Mad and Shi love Brad, understands that [Brad's] his daddy. Everybody seems to be safe in his arms. He makes everybody laugh. He helps everybody."
On how she and Brad get time alone: "Right now, that's our problem! We hang out. We try to talk over the swingset. We'll have a date night once everybody is settled. Pax still gets scared if I'm gone for more than a few hours. But we'll get them occupied with a movie and popcorn and try to run off and lock the door for a bit."
On whether they are affected by gossip: "Our first question is what paper is it in. The New York Times? If not, do we really need to worry?"
Jolie recently shot a few ad spots for Shiseido cosmetics (which will never air in North America):

Angelina in Washington
Angelina Jolie appeared in Washington yesterday in support of an orphans advocacy group pushing for more U.S. aid for education in developing countries. Looking a little tired, the mother of four helped open the Washington headquarters of the Global Action for Children advocacy group. "This is a happy day because it is not often enough that these children are represented in this town," Jolie said. "The best solution for anyone who is abandoned or displaced is to be home [in their own countries]. I would support that first and foremost." The advocacy group wants the government to commit another $2.5 billion a year to education and aid for orphans in developing countries.source

Angelina requests name change for Pax
Angelina Jolie filed a petition in LA Superior Court last week to formally change her newly adopted son's name to Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt. Jolie states in court documents that she is "the sole adoptive parent of the child" and is requesting the name change "in order that her child's last name will incorporate and be combined with the last name of her partner and be the same as that of her other children." A hearing will be held at the end of May in Santa Monica to finalize the details. Jolie made a similar request for her other adopted children, Maddox and Zahara, to officially be named Jolie-Pitt in January 2006.Thursday, April 19, 2007
Brangelina to join other big names at Cannes
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have confirmed that they will present their film A Mighty Heart at the Cannes Film Festival next month. The movie, produced by Pitt's film company, stars Jolie as Mariane Pearl, the widow of reporter Daniel Pearl. "The story unfolds like a mystery," Jolie told EW mag. "You've got people collecting clues and trying to solve what happened. But it's also very real and personal. We didn't want it to be too melodramatic or too polished. We didn't want it to be a typical movie." Other big names scheduled to visit the South of France for the festival include Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Rachel Weisz, who will open the fest with My Blueberry Nights; George Clooney, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle in support of Ocean's 13; Michael Moore will present his latest doc, Sicko; and Leonardo Dicaprio is set to promote a special screening of the environmental documentary The Eleventh Hour."Supergirl" story a load of rubbish
Looks like the story that circulated earlier this week about Brad Pitt lamenting all the press attention he and partner Angelina Jolie get to a journalist at the Roosevelt Hotel is just that - a story. In an article in the British Daily Mail on Monday, the author claims he chatted up Pitt while the actor swilled a beer and waited for friends at the trendy Hollywood hotel. Pitt is quoted as calling tabloid stories "rubbish" and describing Jolie as "Supergirl." Pitt's rep, however, says the "interview" never happened, and that his client wouldn't use British slang or refer to Jolie as "Supergirl." TMZ.com tried repeatedly to get in touch with the story's creator, but he didn't respond to requests to explain his side of the tale.source

Angelina: "I was very sexual in kindergarten"
Angelina Jolie admitted to being "very sexual" at a young age, and even made up a game where she would strip her clothes off in kindergarten. "I was a member of a group called the Kissy Girls," the mother of four says of her days as a wild child. "I was very sexual in kindergarten... I created a game where I would kiss boys and give them cooties. Then we would make out and we would take our clothes off. I got in a lot of trouble!" In her teens, Jolie confessed she like using knives during sex. "I had started having sex with my boyfriend and the sex and the emotions didn't feel enough," Jolie told OK! mag. "I was no longer a little girl. In a moment of wanting to feel closer to my boyfriend I grabbed a knife and cut him. He cut me back... We had an exchange of something and we were covered in blood, my heart was racing. Then whenever I felt trapped, I'd cut myself. I have a lot of scars. It was an age when I felt adventurous and after a few beers things happened." The UN worker says her days of self-mutilation ended when she adopted her first child, Maddox. "It has something to do with becoming a mother," Jolie said. "That was the biggest change in my life and made me feel complete. I learned to accept responsibility for myself, my children and my partner."Monday, April 16, 2007
Brad: Angelina's "like Supergirl"
Brad Pitt defended his woman's honor this weekend, calling her a "Supergirl." Pitt was waiting for friends at LA's Roosevelt Hotel and chatted with a Daily Mail reporter, asking him, "You know what it's like to be on the cover of every magazine, having your personal life dissected with all the lies, all the rubbish? It's hell. Certainly, pick on me - but why pick on Angelina? That's so low. She's such an amazing woman - like Supergirl, in every way." After a few moments, the actor quickly apologized: "I'm sorry if I seem to be taking my frustrations out on you." "So, how are things going with you and Angelina, anyway?" the reporter then asked. Pitt smiled and replied, "Oh sure, like I'm going to talk to you about that."Saturday, April 14, 2007

Brangelina commission $270 million yacht

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are buying a $270 million - yup, say it again - $270 million Italian luxury yacht. The couple has commissioned a 280-foot-long boat to be fitted with two 300-square-foot apartments, two guest suites, a swimming pool, heliport, speedboats and a small submarine. The yacht will be built by a luxury shipbuilder in Civitavecchia, a port town north of Rome.
