Poor Cameron Diaz. The leggy blond told movies.com that her last few years have been "hell" and "so hard," and describes the prejudice that exists against pretty people.
On the past few years: "The last couple of years were hell. Like, I can't even tell you, it was so hard. I didn't know how to handle it. But I think I'm in a much better place now, because I stepped away for a second and took a breath. Hollywood is a funny place. It offers so much, but it can also take a lot away from you."
On pretty prejudice: "If a woman who's a successful actress weighs 300 pounds and has warts, nobody ever asks her, 'Do you think you made it because you're ugly?' So why should there be prejudice against someone who's had some success in films and looks a little better than average. It's all in my genes, so don't hold it against me."
On surfing in Hawaii: "I was just there doing a lot of surfing. I love it. It's definitely a spiritual experience, the closest you can get to Mother Nature, which is God to me. You get to ride all this energy that's traveled across the ocean for thousands of miles, and you get to usher this distant traveler to its destination on the shore."
Cameron Diaz was disturbed by the paparazzi on a recent shopping excursion in NYC. The Holiday actress ran out of SoHo hotspot Lounge when a group of photogs snuck in the back door. "She was enjoying a peaceful day of shopping for some new summer dresses, jewelry and shoes when they surrounded her," said a spy. "Cameron totally freaked out, screamed and dropped the items she was going to buy and was chased through the store. She was running full speed."
Justin Timberlake is still a gentleman when it comes to ex Cameron Diaz. "It's hard for me to talk about because we're talking about a person that I love and respect," Timberlake told British GQ about his former girlfriend of nearly four years. "If I hear anyone say anything bad about Cameron then I'll have something to say to them." Of his other famous ex-girlfriend, Britney Spears, the SexyBack singer says, "Honestly, I am so far removed from that situation." And his best buddy backs him up. "She just isn't part of his life," says Trace Ayala. And of rumors that he had sent a message to Spears while she was in rehab, Timberlake says he "didn't know anything," adding, "A coded message to Britney?" in disbelief.
