Brazilian Chic & Giveaway

I personally have yet to travel to South America. This land of food, fun, and innate sexiness is definitely on my list of places to visit though. While venturing the Christmas markets in NYC this past holiday, I stumbled upon a wonderful artisan in Bryant Park whose collection swept me away to the wild alluring culture of Brazil...and I couldn't wait to tell you about her my darlings.

In 2010, Daniela launched her eponymous accessories collection featuring beautifully designed pieces that are handmade in Brazil and in the United States. She utilizes leather, gold-plated brass, and faux fur in her cutting-edge accessory designs.  This rosette cut cuff bracelet was what blew me away! The back clasp is magnetic and the inside of the leather is vibrant red! Its details like that, that make me drool!

Founded in 2008 by Daniela Zagnolli, BrazilianDecor.com is the ultimate destination for all things Brazilian to beautify your home and body.
We are dedicated to bringing the beauty of Brazil to you.  Our mission is to create a unique shopping experience for our customers by offering creative, distinctive, and eco-friendly Brazilian home products and fashion to enhance your lifestyle. Our exquisite products celebrate the vibrant colors, textures, and shapes that characterize the Brazilian culture and yet meet today’s style. Our established partnerships with many of Brazil's leading brand-name companies and local artisans enable us to offer our customers high-end imported products and beautiful works of art at affordable prices.

Many of our products are handcrafted from the finest natural materials, and each item is individually inspected to ensure the highest quality. The artisans we work with use only the natural materials available in the Brazilian environment to produce their unique pieces. Our corporate objective is to offer online shoppers with a "taste of Brazil" by offering certain products that are a representation of the Brazilian lifestyle and culture.

And good news for you Embellishers! Daniela is offering a giveaway for these fabulous earrings!
These Golden Grass Earrings have quite a background, and you know how I can't pass up things that are unique...

{this photo thanks to Brazilian Decor}

The grass that these lovelies are comprised of is only found in a few areas in Brazil and can only be harvested once a year! This grass is coveted for its uncanny ability to imitate gold thread... who needs Rumpelstiltskin when you have Brazil mes cheries! And the best part is since these pieces are hand crafted, no two pieces are exactly the same! LOVE IT!

NYC Digs: KT Collection Jewelry & Giveaway!

Its a new year and its time to kick it off with a true bang by having a great giveaway, right? Well I do not dare disappoint! While shopping the many Christmas markets in NYC this past holiday season I found a plethora of wonderful NY artists, designers, and foodies... Katie Thompson of the KT Collection was no exception.

Initially impressed by her well designed booth, I had high expectations even before walking in! And her jewelry line definitely did not disappoint. I could see any of her pieces complimenting my wardrobe quite nicely... or any celebrity on a glossy spread for that matter.
Jewelry making from the age of 10 and dabbling in everything from European politics to a glamorous New York magazine, Katie never lost touch with her first love and it is clear why.

Katie's designs are sleek and stunning. With prevalent Eastern influences from her vast background as a fellow traveler to her unending supply of inspiration from the never disappointing New York City streets, the KT Collection has the perfect blend of style and culture.

And GREAT NEWS mes cheries! Katie is giving away one of her signature Adjustable Rings to one of you lucky Embellishers! Oh la la! What will you wear it with? Well first things first, you have to win it...here's how:

Drop into Fall Giveaway

Lovelies, something I can't get enough of in Autumn are the mille feuille rich jewel toned colors in my wardrobe complemented by gorgeous gold statement accessories. Celeste Lauren is a local Charlotte artisan that really brings her A Game to her Etsy shop, Celeste Lauren Designs, packed with items you could easily wear to work or to spice things up for a night on the town. Enjoy a little handmade goodness and get your game face on for Fall Fashion darlings...the big guns of NY, Paris and the likes are about to hit you in the face with another dreamy Fashion Week soon.

{Harper's Bazaar}

What got you started in jewelry? Ive always been a creative, artsy person that liked to paint, draw, create etc. but hadn't done anything in years with it. So one day I decided that I wanted to make a necklace and went to a local bead store and it all went from there...I became addicted to beads and gemstones. Ive taught myself everything with a lot of trial and error and its been so much fun. I always get so excited to buy new supplies and gemstones are like candy to me, so sparkly and gorgeous!

What inspires you the most? I'd say what inspires me most is current fashion and trends. I try to make jewelry that most people would want to wear on a daily basis whether its at the office or out for the night. If I don't like something and wouldn't personally wear it, I wont put it up for sale in my shop. I never really know what I will create ahead of time, it all depends on my mood that day so I end up with a great assortment of jewelry.

What are you hoping for the future of Celeste Lauren Designs? Ideally I'd hope that I can create jewelry full-time. There is something that is so fulfilling about creating something with your own hands and have others enjoy it as much as you do.

If you had a super power what would it be? Remember the Jetsons where they could just zap themselves wherever they wanted in a flash...well I wish I had a little zapper button I could push and be magically transported to the place of my choice. I could relax on the beach, explore in the mountains all at the press of a button.

Be a winner of these beauties above darlings!

Find Your Muse Giveaway

The Embellished Life has taken quite a break lately with giveaways since I have been traveling around Europe and relocating my life back to the States. Now that things have settled down, and I am back in my hometown of Charlotte, I am pleased to announce that I will be hosting a little Hometown Pride coming up! And just in time with school starting right around the corner! or maybe Fall is your favorite like me and you need that perfect accessory to kick it off right?

Introducing Shannon the creative genius behind Musette, an adorably vintage inspired jewelry line that has me craving too many things to count!

1. So Shannon, what got you started in jewelry?
I got started making jewelry when I happened across a bead store and wandered in. I was captivated by all the little colorful beads and tools and the owner was super nice. She taught me a few basics and that was that! I have been addicted ever since and that was over 12 years ago!

2. What pushed you to turn your hobby into a business?
I have always been an artist - primarily a painter - and always dreamed of being able to support myself doing something creative. When people started buying the jewelry I was making I realized that it could actually happen if I put in the time and effort. I have been selling for many years in many different ways but once I found Etsy that was it! My business has moved to a new level and I started to be able to support myself with it. I recently started to focus on it full time and am looking forward to it growing even more!

3. What inspires you?
I am so inspired by other artists in all mediums - witnessing other creative people working on their own vision is really inspiring to me. I also get really excited about my supplies! Buying new beads and supplies, finding unique things to work with - always inspires me!

4. If you could have a super power what would it be?
I think it would be really cool to be able to teleport myself to wherever I wanted to go! :)

You 5 days mes cheries
to try and make these Bollywood earrings yours!

Giveaway in a New York Minute

If you have spent any amount of time reading The Embellished Life you may be aware that I have a slight obsession with a little island I like to call Manhattan. It started at a very young age, and has done nothing but grow into a serious addiction. I also happen to love reading, so when both of these things combine, very good things happen. That said, I give you...

Big Career in the Big City
LAND A JOB AND GET A LIFE IN NEW YORK

...by the wonderful Vicki Salemi! Darlings let me tell you, I am on the job front right now, and I feel that I have read every book and tutorial on job searching advice there is, but none compare to the couture tailored knowledge that Vicki spills to her peeps. Written in a chatty dialogue that is down to earth and conversational, she makes your dreaded job search an adventure and leaves you drooling for instant Manhattan by the time you finish the last page.

BOOK REVIEW
****************
*facebook fanpage*

Cover to cover Vicki gives you the full New Yawk scoop. From resume writing to a rockin social life...even which nights to go out and which nights to stay in, avoiding tourists! Its filled with interviews of people who have made this transition and great local advice on how to not just survive but thrive through the whole process. So "Say buh-bye to the 'burbs and sign up for sassy city girl life!"

*What can readers expect to find in Big Career in the Big City that isn't in every other Job Searching for Dummies book?
Most importantly, they can expect a fun ride! Seriously. I wanted my book to be something I would personally want to pick up and read cover to cover if I was on the hunt. I want the reader to feel jazzed about the job search and creating an amazing life in Manhattan. Why not spark some excitement and fuel some good ol' fashioned mojo into the job search? I felt it's important to have a book that's more than a "dummies" book - readers are savvy so I want to empower them and show how exciting the adventure can be! I interviewed several dozens of people - recruiters as well as New Yorkers who've been there, done that to add some cool anecdotes and stories to all of my advice. It's also important readers get a taste of life in NYC. Real life. Sure, the glam life of where to go at night but there's also realistic factors like managing a budget, dealing with ridiculous landlords, backstabbing co-workers, and penetrating the city so you feel like a big fish in a small pond (yes, it can be done!).

*weheartit.com*

*What's next for Vicki Salemi?
I'd love to expand my career expertise in another platform expanding upon books and my articles such as an on-air job correspondent to empower even more people! This is my second book - my first book, The ABC's of College Life, was published several years ago. I write for a variety of online and print outlets in terms of careers/business, entertainment and health/wellness so writing is in my blood. Writing a book however is completely different than approaching a features article or even a blog post because with a book you're like a painter with a blank canvas! For a book, the author can shape it, add texture, depth, lightness and darkness, and create a voice and overall vision that would otherwise be limited in an article. I'm also excited to write another career book and finally pen an exciting fiction book that's been swirling in my head for way too long. I also love entertainment reporting for press events so I'm in the process of expanding my role in that realm as well. So many juicy projects, so little time!

*weheartit.com*

*What is your most favorite and least favorite thing about The Big Apple?
*Oh my, my absolute favorite thing about NYC?! There's soooo much!! I think the main thing is it never gets old and NYC is truly the place where you feel like you are making your mark in the world. It's like your BFF and continues to be there for you. Needing a creative spark? Visit the MoMa. Need to discover something new? Try spinach and artichoke pizza on 14th and 1st (just discovered it two weeks ago. To. Die. For). Want to meet cool new peeps to hang out with? Join an improv class. It seriously never ever gets old, has a distinctive charm and personality all of its own, and there are countless options.

The least favorite thing? I'm stumped. I'd have to say being overbooked and having three or four events to go on the same night (tough life, I know). Or the fact that garbage can sit on the sidewalks piled high. It doesn't sit for long but on a specific night of the week you'll look around and all you see is garbage and you'll know the garbage trucks will pick it up in a few hours. And mice. I can't stand them and finding the occasional one scurry across your apartment is downright gross. And expected. It's happened before and it'll happen again.

*If you could have any super power what would it be?
The most important super power would be to cure cancer and uncurable diseases. But another one would be able to predict the future. Having a "Magic 8" ball saying that everything's going to turn out okay would be a terrific reassurance for everyone who's job hunting or stressed out about life in general.

Flip & Tumble Giveaway

Do you own a reusable shopping bag? Do you usually remember you forgot it while standing at the check out? ...Yeah, me too. The people at Flip & Tumble had the same problem, and thankfully, they did something about it.

1. What was it like taking an idea and turning it into reality?
Aside from just the excitement of occasionally seeing people carrying our bags, it's really exciting knowing that we started by just looking at the simple problem of forgetting your reusable bags, to getting to the point where we actually have customers letting us know that the bags are working for them and solving this problem. It's exciting to feel that your design is actually out there making a difference to people.

2. What has been the reaction of your consumers?
It's been really positive! I think the fun, squishy factor of the balls really draws people in, but I think it's the function of the design that keeps them using our bags. I think we've really struck a chord with shoppers who want a stylish, but easy solution that really works for all those unplanned shopping trips. We also find that most people find a ton of other non-shopping uses for the bags such as for travelling, carrying lunch, a light gym bag, etc.

3. Do you have a favorite moment or story with f&t where you realized you're really onto something?
Although it was tough at the time, one of our favorite company memories was when we stayed up until the wee hours sewing our first 50 bags, and then took them to a local farmers market the next day. We had no idea whether people would respond, or be excited, or buy the bags. Once the shoppers started to trickle in, we did our thing, and showed off how the bags work, and you could see the spark in peoples eyes, just wondering how this little ball turned into a full sized bag. I think it was then that we started to see that the bags could have real potential.

4. What's next for f&t?
Last year, we came out with the produce bag sets, and they've been a huge hit, largely because it gave shoppers a simple, affordable solution to the problem of plastic bags in the produce section. We're looking to keep up that same type of innovation where our products solve a real world need in a simple fun way. We've got some fun products in the pipeline that will come out before the holidays.

*thanks weheartit for the fun shots*

5. If you could have a super power what would it be?
Hmm. I think it would have to be be teleportation. It would be pretty amazing to be sitting in sunny CA one moment, and off to Tokyo, Brazil, or India the next. And you'd save a bundle on plane fares!

Great idea right? Is it as good as it sounds? YES!
I tried out the bag for myself and became an instant f&t addict! Its the size of your fist which can easily fit in your purse and will pop open and shove closed in under 30 seconds, no problem. It is my catch all bag for not just food shopping, but trips to the pool, and overnighters as well.

1. Unfold

2. Pull out bag
4. Enjoy an instant inner pocket
5. Fill with all your goodies!
