Big paycut for Tom Cruise

It seems even studio bosses are tired of Tom Cruise. The Mission: Impossible actor and his business partner have been given a paycut by Paramount Pictures, to the tune of $8 million. According to the LA Times, Paramount informed Cruise that they wouldn't be renewing his $10 million a year production deal, and could offer him an amount closer to $2 million. Some speculate that this means the actor will have to pay his staff himself. Paramount was behind the summer blockbuster MI:3, but sources say that due to Cruise's profit margin, the studio only expects to break even on the film. Of the new offer, Cruise's lawyer said, "We received an offer and we are digesting it. We will sit and talk about it." A Paramount spokesperson also spoke about the deal, saying, "We have the utmost respect for Tom Cruise and Cruise/Wagner productions. We are currently in discussions to renew their deal."
