Bountiful free outdoor entertainment has always been one of the best things about summer in the city, but this year the folks at the River to River festival have outdone themselves. This Friday they're offering up a gratis show on the South Street Seaport featuring the dark, expansive vocals of Baltimorean singer-songwriter Jana Hunter—the first person to release an album on Devendra Banhart's Gnomonsong label—fronting the band Lower Dens, alongside the appropriately named Dirty Beaches. Grab some sunscreen and take in the freak-folk sounds.
