I’ve been a big fan of Zooey Deschanel ever since she starred in the indie hit, “(500) Days of Summer.” The 31-year-old seems like one of those cool, laid-back celebs you can actually see yourself being friends with (or at least yoga buddies).
Now, after reading Self magazine’s July article on Zooey, I am convinced she’s down-to-earth (no pampered diva vibe) and has an awesome roadmap to living well.
“Most people spend too much time comparing themselves to others,” reveals the actress in Self. She also advises, “Get to know yourself a little bit better. Stop and ask yourself a few questions, and think about you.”
Be true to thyself is Zooey’s live-happy rule. “Don’t overthink. If it feels right, do it!”
Zooey, who also has her own band, She & Him, advises Self readers to be their own best friend and take time to discover and embrace their unique gifts. “If I could give my teenaged self any advice, it would be ‘Calm down!’ In fact, if I could relive one day of my life, it would be the worst day of seventh grade, just so I could appreciate how much better life is now.”
She also has a healthy attitude towards getting fit. Exercise because you like it, not because of the numbers on the scale. “A lot of people work out to be skinny. That’s so boring, and it seems like a depressing goal for a modern woman. I work out to be healthy and because I like it.”
Healthy Hollywood gives two thumbs up to Zooey and her can-do/live well spirit.
