Snakeskin is always in style in my book and it's going to be particularly big this fall with Lanvin, Chloe, Prada and Gucci all featuring it in their collections. Snakeskin is also making a big impact on nails
yes nails. Here's the Sssss-scoop!
WHAT: REAL Snakeskin Mani/Pedi
WHO: Celeb manicurist Terri Silacci
THE INSPIRATION: Terri created the snakeskin pedicure for Bio Sculpture (Victoria Beckham, Jessica Alba and Katy Perry are fans of the brand) after her kids brought home some real naturally shed snakeskin from their neighbor's house. The Bio Sculpture Pedicure or Manicure uses 100% naturally shed snakeskin. (Of course, you can also get the look using faux snakeskin patterns.)
HOW LONG: Lasts up to 10 weeks on toes and 4 weeks on nails.
HOW MUCH: It costs from $150 to $300 depending on the manicurist.
HOW TO: Terri uses Bio Snake-Shed (naturally shed snakeskin, which is disinfected) and cuts it to the size of the nail leaving a 1/6 of an inch as a border around the nail. The snakeskin is dipped in flexible gel and applied to the nail, smooth side down. Terri gently pushes the skin down onto the nail with a brush starting from the center of the nail working towards the cuticles making sure to push out any air bubbles. She leaves a 1/6" border along the cuticle, side walls and free edge open with no snake shed. After buffing to remove any loose pieces of snakeskin, Terri uses a brush to paint the natural snake shed lines (with a different color if desired) , extending the lines of the natural snake shed all the way to the cuticle, side wall and free edge where the 1/6" gap was left. Any holes, may also be filled in with a third color of the clients choosing.
THE RESULT: Ssssssexy looking nails! For more info, head to www.BioSculptureGel.com.
